About me

My name is Sonia Kampshoff and I grew up with a love for languages.

Originally from Verona in Italy, I was raised bilingual in Italian (my dad’s Italian) and German (my mum was German). I always knew I wanted to work with languages, I just didn’t know what that would look like.

So I followed my parents and teachers’ advice and became a translator, later specialising in localisation. I loved it, but I also wondered if there were more career options.

By chance I transitioned into digital marketing when I was hired by BullionVault, a British company selling gold online who wanted to expand into Europe. So I translated their website and all marketing materials into German and Italian – and that’s how I got hooked on international marketing.

I went on to specialise in Google Ads and social media ads management for international brands, work I still do today.

Languages, work and the future of work have always been on my mind. And in 2025 I launched my podcast Working With Languages where I talk to people like you and me who use their language skills in the work they do – whether as a main service like translators, or as an additional skill in any other role.

My passion for directing and progressing careers means I also coach others who wish to work with languages, be it graduates, experienced professionals or career changers.

If you’d like to learn more about me and my background, listen to the podcast episode about me.
